Heather Ann Ricci Memorial Golf Outing

After their daughter, Heather, lost her life in a tragic auto accident on her 10th Birthday in August 2001, Louis and Kim Ricci were determined to do something positive in her memory. They chose to donate five of Heather's organs (her heart, lungs, liver, and both kidneys) to five other individuals who were in desperate need. As a result, five individuals are living happy, healthier lives from Heather's Gift of Life.

The Ricci Family has set up a memorial fund in their daughter's honor. Each year, since 2004, it sponsors the Heather Ann Ricci Memorial Golf Outing. Proceeds for this event are donated to The Living Legacy Foundation.

Donate Life Family Fun Run

The Donate Life Family Fun Run is a non-competitive 5K run and 1K walk to raise awareness for organ, eye and tissue donation and celebrate Maryland’s organ and tissue donors and their families. Proceeds from the Donate Life Family Fun Run benefit the Living Legacy Foundation of Maryland to further the organization’s mission of providing advocacy, family support, comprehensive public and professional education, and commitment to enhancing the organ and tissue donation process.

In the past, donor families and friends, transplant recipients, hospital partners, Team Maryland members and more have created teams and participated in the Donate Life Family Fun Run. In addition to raising funds, the run is a great way to celebrate life, second chances, and the generous organ, eye and tissue donors who are responsible for those second chances.

The 2013 Donate Life Family Fun Run will be on October 5 at the Camden Yards Sports Complex. Registration for the event will open in late spring.

Donate Life GospelFest

The Living Legacy Foundation and Donate Life Maryland hosted the first annual Donate Life GospelFest in celebration of National Donor Sabbath. The event featured a wide variety of gospel performers, who entertained guests with graceful voices, jamming performances and soulful renditions of classical spirituals tied into the powerful message of giving the gift of life.
