They also discussed some of the common themes around donation and what those words mean to them. This episode featured transplant recipients George Franklin and Robin Litz, as well as donor daughter Meghan Metz. The discussion was moderated by transplant recipient Meghan Smith.
Honoring the Legacy of Donors

This episode of Real Talk highlighted the many ways that organ, eye, tissue, research, and in-spirit donors are remembered and celebrated year-round in our community. We heard from Barbara Sauer, a donor mom who honors her daughter, Heather, in beautifully creative ways. She was joined by Heidi Pullara, family services coordinator at The LLF, who discussed our donor family aftercare program and grief workshops, as well as events coordinator Erin Bauer who shared the various events and observances that families can participate in to honor their loved ones. The episode was moderated by Jay Herzog, a Donate Life Ambassador and liver recipient.

In honor of Black History Month, this February episode of “Real Talk” hosted by The Living Legacy Foundation of Maryland honored seven-organ donor Jordan Taylor Brown and focused on the importance of breaking the silence of violence in Baltimore City. We heard about Jordan’s story and the Jordan Taylor Brown Foundation from his brother, Sterling Brown, and the episode was moderated by Jordan’s aunt, Sonia Taylor (also a Donate Life Ambassador and cornea recipient). We also heard from Paulette Williams-Tillery of Roberta's House, Garrick Williams of LifeBridge Health, and our own Family Services Manager Courtney Nott for a discussion about traumatic grief and loss, violence interventions, and how they relate to our communities.
