Clinical Manager, Organ Recovery

Melanie has been with The LLF since August 2005 as a member of the organ recovery department.  She started as a clinical coordinator and worked her way up to the position of clinical manager of organ recovery.

Melanie has 30 years of nursing experience in various critical care and emergency department environments.  She is a member of numerous national professional organizations, including the North American Transplant Coordinator Organization, the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations, and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. She is also on The Living Legacy Foundation of Maryland’s Ethics Committee, Non-Conformance Committee, and is the co-chair of the Simulation Committee. Additionally, she is a professional speaker to public and professional audiences regarding the organ, eye, and tissue donation process.

She graduated nursing school in 1991 and went on to attain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2013.  She is a Certified Professional Transplant Coordinator and a Certified Tissue Bank Specialist. 

A mother of three as well as a grandmother, Melanie made sure her children have grown up knowing about the lifesaving power of organ, eye, and tissue donation and are champions in their circles. Outside of work, she enjoys boating and fishing and spending time with family.
